Scandinavian Dreams

When thinking of the Scandinavian Dreams look some may immediately think of the blue and yellow of Ikea.  There’s much more to this design style than this iconic store.  The Scandinavian look extends to the countries of Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland.  Therefore, offering a vast and eclectic taste that personifies this modern design movement and is known by simplicity, functionality and minimalism.

With past-times revolving around the great outdoors, Scandinavians have a deep-rooted love of nature.  Over their very long winters it can be easy to forget the natural beauty of their missed summers.  They bring nature indoors as much as possible as they believe this will beat those winter blues.  Scandinavian interiors reflect this by bringing in numerous natural plants and furnishings that mimic nature through rustic wood grain.

Whether you prefer a bright, bold interior or a calm quality, you can achieve a distinctly Scandinavian Dreams style in your home.  Paint your walls a lovely light grey or blue, add a light feature wall using our Split Face or Wood Effect Wall Panels, throw some white fabric throws over your furniture and maybe pick up an antique or two.  Scandinavian culture and design is achievable no matter where you live.

The fresh but muted tones of pale blue, cool grey, white and cream are seen everywhere in Scandinavian Dreams interiors.  This colour scheme has become the trademark of this design genre.   Not all Scandinavian designs are muted and calm.  There are some designers who prefer a much bolder design statement like some Finnish design companies that use bold, graphic and colourful arrangements.

Scandinavian designers prefer the use of simple light wood from floor to ceiling.  It’s easy to understand why this is popular when you see a room designed in this manner.  Light wood floors make a room seem open, clean and airy giving much needed attention to the craftsmanship of a rooms architecture and furnishings.
